Captain Fred Johnson joined the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in 2007.  He has served in the Patrol Division, Investigations Division, and Legal Service Division during his tenure with MCSO.  Captain Johnson was promoted to sergeant in 2015 and was assigned to the Patrol Division as a supervisor.  Captain Johnson was promoted to lieutenant in 2018 and transferred to the Civil Division as the supervisor of Court Security.  He worked closely with the judges of the 15th Judicial Circuit and gained experience in inmate transport, criminal trials, and the overall security of Montgomery County Courts and Probate Offices.  In 2022, he was assigned to the civil office  where  he learned the responsibilities of the civil process that included extradition, warrants, evictions, seizures, and civil executions.

In 2023 Captain Johnson was promoted to his current rank and assigned as the division commander of the Legal Services Division.  Captain Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Alabama State University and a master’s degree in justice administration from Faulkner University.
