Inmate Visitation

Visitation Schedule

  • Visitation will be conducted by appointment only.  Appointments must be made in order to visit an inmate.

  • Visitors may schedule an appointment by calling 334-832-4985, Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.  Appointments should be scheduled at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the visit.  Once an appointment has been made, it will not be changed.

  • Visitors who are more than ten (10) minutes late for their appointment will forfeit their visit.

  • Visitation will be offered each day from 8:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. or from 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.

Visitation Rules

  • Visitation will be by approved visitor list only.  An inmate may have a maximum of two  (2) approved visitors.  Each visitor will be permitted one (1) visitation period per week.

  • Inmates may revise their visitor’s list the first of each month.

  • Each inmate is permitted two (2) 30-minute visitation periods per week. 

  • All visitors age 16 or older must show photo identification.

  • Children 15 years of age and younger will be permitted to visit as long as they are on the approved visitor’s list and accompanied by an adult.  If children 15 years of age and younger are left unattended or if they exhibit uncontrollable behavior, they, along with the adult visitor will be asked to leave the Facility.

  • The following persons will be denied permission to visit an inmate in the Facility.

            (a)        Any person awaiting trial in any jurisdiction

            (b)        Any person on a pass from a correctional institution or jail

  • Visitors must secure all personal property in the public lockers located in the Detention Facility Lobby.  No personal property (pocketbooks, handbags, packages, umbrellas, etc.) may be carried into the visiting area or into any internal area of the Facility.

  • Visitors will not be allowed to bring food or drinks into the Detention Facility.

  • Proper attire will be required for all visitors.  Inappropriate clothing such as halter tops, swimwear, revealing clothing, see-through clothing, sleepwear, or any other clothing that may be deemed unacceptable will not be permitted.

  • Visitors who appear to be under the influence of any intoxicant or who display unruly behavior will not be permitted to visit and are subject to arrest.

  • Visitors will be required to submit to a search of their person by Detention Facility staff. Searches may be conducted by electronic means, physical pat-down or both.  Failure or refusal to submit to a search of his/her person will result in denial of visitation.

  • Visitors and inmates are required to display appropriate behavior during visits.  Vulgar language is not permitted.

  • Visitors are required to leave the visitation area upon announcement of the end of the visitation period or at any time as directed by a member of the Detention Facility staff.  Loitering in visitation corridors is not permitted.

  • Special visits for individuals living outside the State of Alabama may be scheduled by contacting the Captain of Inmate Programs & Services.

  • Violation of visitation procedures or violation of any other Detention Facility rule or regulation may result in an inmate’s loss of visiting privileges.

Attorney and Clergy Visits

  • All inmates may be permitted to visit with their attorneys and clergymen, Monday through Friday between the hours 8:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M., 2:30 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. and 9.00 P.M., privately and without supervision.

  • Any attorney, clergyman, or other person requesting to see any inmate may be requested to produce appropriate identification and/or submit to a reasonable search of his or her person and property before being allowed entry.  Refusal to submit may constitute grounds for denial of admission to this Facility.  Umbrellas, handbags, briefcases, cell phones, weapons, alcohol, drugs, tobacco products, matches, lighters, money and other contraband are prohibited from being carried into the secure areas of the Facility.

Safety / Security

For safety and/or security reasons, a Detention Facility Supervisor may deny a requested visit if any of the following circumstances is documented.

  • The visitor is disruptive or dangerous at the time he/she requests to visit an inmate

  • The visitor has a recent history of disruptive behavior at the Facility

  • The visitor is, or is believed to be, under the influence of alcohol or drugs

  • The visitor refuses to show proper identification

  • The inmate refuses to the see the visitor

  • Visitation privileges are temporarily suspended by the Director of Detention for violation of visitation policy and procedures or for emergency reasons
