 | Barbara Palmer began her career with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on June 27, 1988 as a Correctional Officer. In 2001, she was promoted to Captain and became the Coordinator of Inmate Programs. She continued to excel throughout the ranks and was promoted to Major on January 7, 2010, where she now serves as Assistant Director of Detention. Her greatest accomplishment is her status as a liason between inmates, Correctional Officers, facility, court system and the general public to make sure all procedures and/or problems are resolved in a professional, accurate manner in order to encourage a greater professional working relationship with all parties involved. Responsibilities include: Overseeing personnel including Correctional Officers and/or clerical staff Coordinating with the Sheriff's Office to sponsor community events such as, Easter Egg Hunt, Kids Fishing Rodeo, Senior Fishing Rodeo, summer camp and annual Administrative Assistant Day luncheon Oversees facility operations, investigations, complaint resolutions, grievances, legal issues involving inmates and/or officers using the appropriate documentation and/or steps Making sure facility policies and procedures are followed according to the state and federal guidelines as well as the American Corrections Association standards
