The Investigation Division is composed of Criminal Investigation, Special Operations (Tactical Operations), Training, Firing Range, and Task Force Assignments. Within this division we have approximately 23 employees, 20 sworn officers and 3 civilian employees. This division is responsible for all investigations that are conducted by the Sheriff's Office with the exception of internal investigations. All felon reports are reviewed by this division. Special Operations   The Sheriff's Office Special Operations Division is comprised of two sections, Narcotics Investigations and Tactical Operations.  The narcotics investigators handle all drug related crimes that originate from other divisions with the department and they conduct their own investigations.  These investigations usually culminate with either Search Warrants being executed or subjects being taken into custody for questioning.  Narcotics crimes range from possession of marijuana for personal use to the trafficking of cocaine or other narcotics.   Tactical Operations  The Sheriff's Office has a fully operational Tactical Team. All members of the team are volunteers and must maintain the highest standards and qualifications.  The team has multiple applications to include; narcotics search warrants, dignitary protection, vehicle take downs, missing persons search and rescue, severe weather response and airborne insertions.  They work and train with agencies and teams throughout the State of Alabama.
